The ‘Mars Shot for Nuclear Medicine, Molecular Imaging, and Molecularly Targeted Radiopharmaceutical Therapy’ is a forward-looking glimpse into the future of nuclear medicine. The manuscript—published in The Journal of Nuclear Medicine (JNM)—outlines visionary but achievable goals for the many facets of nuclear medicine. The paper was written by a multidisciplinary group of scientists and physicians from the research and discovery domain of the SNMMI’s Value Initiative.

The goal of the SNMMI Mars Shot Research Fund is to support innovative, transformative, nuclear medicine imaging and radiopharmaceutical therapy research. Today, we can prolong the lives of patients with cancer with RPTs. Tomorrow, we may be able to cure cancer in many patients with cutting edge use of imaging and RPT tools.

Congratulations to Jason Lewis, PhD for winning the 2024 Mars Shot Diagnostic Pathways in Prostate Cancer Research Grant.

The SNMMI Mars Shot is excited to announce that Jason Lewis, PhD, Vice Chair for Research, Chief of the Radiochemistry and Imaging Sciences Service, and Director of the Radiochemistry and Molecular Imaging Probe Core Facility, as well as head a laboratory in the Sloan Kettering Institute, has been selected as the recipient of a $100,000 grant from the 2024 Prostate Mars Shot Research Grant. The grant recognizes individuals who have made transformative impact in the field and elevated the value of nuclear medicine and molecular imaging.

The SNMMI Mars Shot Research Fund is excited to announce that Labros Meimetis, PhD, research assistant professor in the Department of Radiology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health, has been selected as the recipient of a $100,000 Innovator’s grant from the 2024 Mars Shot Fund.
